TOY NEWS FOR 10/24/2012 - S.H. FIGUARTS KAMEN RIDER RIDERMAN

This has been a long time in coming, but from the looks of this figure, it was worth it.

S.H. Figuarts has finally shown the prototype for their forthcoming Riderman figure!

Riderman is not a great design design, but he does still embody that awesome classic look of the original 70's Japanese Tokusatsu series.

Riderman never had his own show, but instead appeared as a mysterious anti-hero on the Kamen Rider V3 series. While he died on the original show, he still appears in all the Rider x Movies along with all the original Showa Era Riders.

This is one of those figures that really pulls me into wanting to collect the S.H. Figuarts figures, which are faithful representations of the Riders as they appeared on TV.

My Kamen Rider collection at the moment consists of figures from the S.I.C. line, where they "re-imagine" the characters in a more gritty, real-world style, and while that's the reason I love that line, some characters-- especially the early ones in the line-- aren't nearly was beautifully re-imainged at the later figures are. Riderman appeared very early on in the S.I.C. line and his figure is my least favorite of all the S.I.C. Riders. (V3 is a close 2nd.)

As he appears in the shows and movies, Riderman is colorful and bold, but S.I.C.'s version is dark and dull and is missing a lot of Riderman's original color scheme. He just seems a little too re-imagined compared to the rest of the line. This version, however, looks fantastic!

And so, Rider fans, here he is!! What do you all think? Was he worth the wait?

Coming March 2013 for Y3,990 (approx $50.00)
