TOY NEWS FOR 10/6/2012 - UPCOMING TAKARA TRANSFORMERS PRODUCT

So, here in the US-- where the Transformers brand was created, but the figure weren't-- we always get the crappy end of the TF stick because we have Hasbro, but in Japan, they have Takara.

And, since toys here are mostly a kids market and need to be as cheap as humanly possible because "kids don't care" and parents have to buy this stuff on a whim at Walmart to shut their kids up, we always get the no-frills version of these toys.

Takara of Japan-- where they recognize the huge adult collector's base-- on the other had, makes some truly wonderful stuff. True, the cost is higher-- even in Japan-- but look at these drool worthy figures and tell me it's not worth it

Being a huge fan of the Transformers Cybertron video games, I've been tempted to pick a few of these figures up, but I just can't bring myself to do it because of the way Hasbro does the plastic on modern Transformers. It just looks so plastic and cheap. But this Takara paint job really shows off how freakin' amazing this figure can be is!

Arrives in Dec with a price tag of about 35 bucks.

Now this is interesting.

The only pics of this set so far is a little small and grainy to really see how the colors of these guys looks, but this is the from the Takara "Encore" series (where they re-release old G1 figures from the 80's) and this set is meant to represent the Constructicons in their catroon accurate colors.

What I find the most interesting about this set is the inclusion of the cartoon accurate Devistator head.

Look for this set at the beginning of 2013.

So this one is interesting I guess, if you're a fan of the movie designs and/or walking junkpile looking things.

Takara is releasing this re-deco of Megatron for the Asian market, but not for Japan. So, if you want this one, you'll have to look to your HK sellers and not Japanese importers.

Due in Dec.

Now here's something we all had to know was coming. And, if you're like me, you're one happy mo' fo' that they are!

The news that a Masterpiece Soundwave was on the horizon a few months ago was already enough to get any true TF geek's blood bumping, but when some prototype cassettes were also shown, it was truly time to sit and bounce in your chair like a giddy child. (Not that I would ever do that.)

With our first real look at Rumble, Ravage, Frenzy and Buzzsaw (Laserbeak comes with Soundwave) I am blown away with the job Takara did on these. They still look like their simple little cassette selves in alt mode-- but look at those robot modes!

Only these small pics have been released so far, so I'm sure some sweet hi-res ones won't be far behind.

Looks like these will be hitting in March of next year with each set costing around 60 dollars.

O.M.G.

This is something totally unexpected!!

A Takara Encore release of the holy grail of G1 figures-- Fortress Maximus!!! For me, this might be the biggest TF news of the year!

Yes, I know there was already a re-release of him years ago, but that was not in G1 colors, and, as you can see, this is.

This is one of the hardest G1 figures to find complete and in collector condition, and if you do, it's gonna cost you around a thousand dollars for a loose one. The biggest problem with the originals is finding it without yellowing, sticker wear, and with all his little add-on parts. This release solves all of those problems!

How would you like a Fortress Maximus in mint, complete, un-used condition with his sword that only came with the Japanese release for only (only?) a little over 300 dollars?? (Although I'm sure shipping is gonna be a bee-yotch.)

Hell yes, I want one.

We all just have to wait until around March/April of next year to finally add the most massive TF ever to our G1 collection.
