TOY NEWS FOR 9/20/2013 - HOT TOYS - BATMAN 1966 TELEVISION SHOW - (ADAM WEST) BATMAN AND (BURT WARD) ROBIN

How many other toy blogs and websites are starting off their report on these figures with "Holy _______, Batman!"?

Well, not me! No, sir. I'm not going to be pulled [BAM!] into the [BIFF!] obviousness of that [BAM!] joke and go the same [ZAP!] route that everyone else [KA-POW!]-- Now stop that!!

>sigh<

Anyway... This is the TV show that-- along with the original Spider-Man (pre "and Amazing Friends") cartoon series-- ignited my love for all things superheroes and comic books. However, what I didn't realize at the time is that this is the TV show that also single handedly ruined comic book in the minds of the American consciousness forever.

While there are more comics than ever that are just as brilliant, dark, brutal, creative and poignant as any Academy Award nominated film, they are still viewed as kids stuff, and the adults who read them-- myself included-- are often looked down upon as childish or immature. That's a sad thing, because for many years prior, comic books were not viewed that way. You can even find many photos of US soldiers during WWII and the Korean War (uh, I mean "conflict") taking some down time reading a comic book.

Even with so many awesome movies and shows that have been made since, the stain and stigma of the original 1966 Batman show still haunts comic books as an entertainment medium, which is a damn shame because it's all based on ignorance and total misconception.

But, as a kid, I loved the hell out of the reruns of this show because I didn't know that it was such corny satire, all I knew was that it was a Batman TV show!

After decades of the license being in limbo, things have finally been worked out and we've been seeing a massive amount of merchandise from this show. But seriously, has anything looked as near-prefect and awesome as these Hot Toys versions of Batman and Robin?

Yes, they are expensive, but with Hot Toys, the cost is always worth it. There is seriously nothing out there in the collectibles world that can match the quality of a Hot Toys figure. When you see them in person, they always, always impress.

I'm so very tempted to get these figures along with the forthcoming Batmobile. There's no doubt that they'd all make on hell of an impressive display. Augh! Hot Toys-- you always make me spend way too much money on this hobby!!

Both figures are scheduled for an April 2014 release, but we know Hot Toys always pushes figures back a few months, so think more like June/July.
