TOY NEWS FOR 10/10/2013 - NYCC - MATTEL - SUPERMAN (ORIGINAL) AND BATMAN (ORIGINAL) MOVIE FIGURES

UPDATE 10/13/2013 - NEW PHOTOS AND INFO!

These figures will be a 4" scale. Mattel seems to be seriously abandoning higher-priced, 6" - 7" figures at retail.

What a surprise! (And I actually mean that in a non-sarcastic way for once.)

Mattel pulled off an awesome reveal at NYCC with two new Movie Masters figure lines-- the original Tim Burtan Batman Films (Batman and Batman Returns) and the original Superman films.

Sadly, I've been mostly unimpressed with Mattel's efforts on their Movie Masterpiece figures. They aren't terrible, but they lack something to quantify that $20 price tag that they carry.

While we can't quite make out all the details in these photos, I will say that the potential I'm seeing here looks pretty good so far. The Penguin looks particularly impressive.

No Joker or Lex Luthor yet, but I'm assuming that the likeness rights to Jack Nicholoson and Gene Hackman don't come easy-- or cheap-- so that might be a factor.

(Special thanks to the good folks over at toyark.com, cooltoyreview.com and toynewsi.com for the beautiful photos!!)
