TOY NEWS FOR 10/28/2013 - ART STORM - ULTIMATE METAL - TRANSFORMERS - UM-01 - OPTIMUS PRIME

Damn-- this thing is a beauty and a beast!

Just looking at the pictures, you can see that this figure is a work of art. But, then again, that is what Art Storm is known for. They are the the premium, premium of die-cast robots in Japan. And, as with any "premium" product, so is the price....

When you look at this and finish marveling at its beauty (and obvious design influence from Bandai's recent DX Mazinger), the first thing a TF collector will ask is: will it transform? And the answer is: no, no it won't.

This is just my observation, but recently Takara has licensed Transformers to other toy companies, but there seems to be one caveat-- it's not allowed to transform. After all, Takara doesn't want to license products that will compete with their own!

This Optimus will stand at almost 17" tall! And he seems to include a remote that triggers lights (eyes, Matrix) and possibly sounds, or a voice. (Although expect that voice to be in Japanese.)

I'll drop the boom of giving you the price once you've finished gawking at these breath-taking pics.

No official release date yet, other than "sometime" in 2014, but his price will be Y78,000-- that's (approx) $800!!!!!!
